Before this class, I would define translating as reciting something in a way or somebody to understand it better. For example, let's say a Spanish class and the way the teachers teach it. They make you say and write out the Spanish version first then translate it into English. To describe the act of translating it's basically how I explain for, you change something like a word or phrase in a way that the person can understand it. Now I think translating is the same thing I've always thought it was. My definition of it is staying the same because I feel like it's explainable, especially in the name of it. There is nothing difficult about translation to me and I guess what I want to know more about translation is whether there could be other ways to translate stuff than the ways I know.

How has your identity as a Writer-Researcher changed over the course of the semester so far? What does genre research mean to you? How does genre research connect to your idea of yourself as a researcher? I think my writing identity didn't change but it has grown to become better. To me, genre research is the type of research that determines what type of writing you have and what it's about. It connects to my idea of myself as a researcher because it helps me become the best writer I can be.

I think translingualism is when a word can mean one or multiple things in different languages. What's confusing to understand about translingualism is the actual meaning because I still need help with understanding it more because I don't know if my meaning is right or not. I still want to learn more about its meaning so I can better understand what it means. I think it could be applicable to my life in a positive way because it can help me understand different meanings words could have and in different languages.

One thing I knew about multimodality is that is more than one way of doing something. Something I learned about multimodality is that it's actually different forms of communication. Something I still want to know about it is it more ways besides the ways mentioned in the text which were visual, gestural, spatial, and linguistic of multimodality. Multimodality is kind of self-explanatory so really most of it is easy to understand and so far, there are no hard parts about it.

In my drawing, it's two friends giving each other peer reviews on each other's papers. The past antecedent knowledge I had about peer review is basically when somebody else reviews your paper to see if they see any mistakes or give you advice on it. My view on peer review is the same. What I find helpful about it is the fact that you could get someone else's opinion on it which is basically advice. To plan for peer review next week, I will make sure to look at all aspects of the person's paper and to be honest. I am hoping to get back honest feedback myself and I'm not expecting all of it to be only positive things but also honest negative things about it too.

Before this class, I thought genre meant what type of book or movie you were watching. My definition of genre changed because now I know that it doesn't have to be only books or movies, but it could be anything including music and literature. So, one of my favorite types of genres of books and movies are horror. I love watching horror movies because they are interesting to me and keep me at the edge of my seat. My favorite genre of music is slow, sexy, and R&B which is why Chris Brown is one of my favorite singers.

From reading this week's class readings and discussions, what I'm understanding about CHAT is that it is a better way to go about when it comes to writing even though it may be a little messy. It has seven components: Production, Representation, Distribution, Reception, Socialization, Activity, and Ecology, and they all have effects on writing. Production helps when it comes to the different ways writing can be produced. Representation helps when it comes to how people feel and think and what they used to write the text. Distribution helps when it comes to determining where texts go because sometimes it's not only the author who has it. Reception helps when it comes to determining who uses the writing. Socialization helps when it comes to showing the interactions of a specific writing. Activity helps when it comes to what people do while they're writing. Ecology helps when it comes to the main purpose of the writing. I understand each component of CHAT but the one thing...
